Engineering Projects for Industrial Electrical Installations: A Strategic Investment for Efficiency and Competitiveness

A safer, more efficient, and future-ready plant always begins with a well-designed electrical installation. As an engineer, I see every day how a well-executed electrical installation transforms the way a factory operates. And as an energy efficiency consultant, I know that many companies are currently in the ideal moment to take the next step: there is a real need, there is a clear return, and there are strong grants available to cover part of the project.

Over the past few years, I have visited dozens of industries across the Valencian Community: fruit and vegetable plants, wineries, dairy industries, logistics centers, packaging factories, metalworking workshops, and countless other companies that all share something in common. They have all experienced significant technological growth, yet many still rely on electrical installations that no longer match the real needs of their processes. And I am not only referring to old installations; even the most recent ones, if they haven’t been strategically designed, can become a silent brake on productivity.

In a factory, electricity is like the circulatory system of a living organism. If something fails, even minimally, the entire process is affected. I have seen it too many times: motors that do not reach optimal performance, frequency drives that trip without clear reason, refrigeration chambers that consume more energy than necessary, or production lines that stop at the worst possible moment. Behind all these symptoms, there is almost always a common cause: the electrical installation is not designed, sized, or updated for the company’s current reality.

When we talk about electrical engineering projects, many business owners think only about regulatory compliance. But the reality is much broader. A well-designed electrical project is a tool that transforms daily operations, reduces risks, improves energy efficiency, and enables the industry to be more competitive and prepared for growth. At AGB Ingeniers, we see it constantly: when a company updates its electrical installation, its processes gain stability, its energy consumption decreases, and the lifespan of its machinery naturally increases.

An industrial electrical installation that adapts to the present… and the future

Before designing any solution, we carry out an in-depth analysis of the existing installation. This allows us to understand the real power the company requires, the vulnerable points in its electrical panels, the consumption peaks that generate the most stress, and the expansion plans the management team envisions in the medium term. It is at this stage where revealing findings often emerge: undersized lines, poorly calibrated protections, electrical distributions lacking clear criteria, or installations that, although operational, function at the expense of overworking the machinery.

With a clear understanding of what the plant needs, electrical design becomes a strategic element. It is not simply about “changing cables,” but about creating an infrastructure capable of supporting the company’s evolution. From upgrading electrical panels to safer, more accessible models, to integrating variable-speed drives to optimize pumping or ventilation processes, installing monitoring systems to control real consumption, or incorporating power factor correction solutions—every decision directly impacts efficiency and performance.

The most interesting part is seeing how small adjustments—such as fine-tuning a panel, redistributing loads, or improving the power supply of a critical line—can lead to major improvements in electrical stability. When this happens, the industry gains continuity, unnecessary stoppages disappear, and energy consumption stops showing unjustified peaks.

The true value: energy efficiency through well-planned engineering

Energy efficiency does not begin with the compressor or the motor. It begins much earlier, in the electrical installation that feeds them. A plant may have state-of-the-art machinery, but if the electrical system supporting it is unbalanced or poorly sized, consumption will be higher than necessary and the equipment will experience premature wear.

At AGB Ingeniers, we always work under one premise: an optimized electrical installation is, in itself, an energy efficiency measure. When a line is properly sized, electrical losses are reduced; when a motor receives stable power, it operates at its optimal point; when power factor correction is properly configured, penalties are avoided; when the plant is monitored, decision-making becomes much more accurate. This is not theory—this is daily industrial reality.

Moreover, electrical modernization is essential to prepare for automation and digitalization. Industries no longer operate with isolated systems: we are talking about sensor networks, SCADA systems, advanced control architectures, intelligent drives, and installations that require perfect synchronization between multiple components. For all this to work, the electrical foundation must be solid. It is like building a house: before choosing the furniture, you must ensure the foundations are properly constructed.

A key moment for Valencian industry: the opportunity from IVACE

All these improvements are not only strategic; right now, they are also eligible for subsidies. The Energy Efficiency Grants from IVACE offer an exceptional opportunity for companies to modernize their installations with significant financial support.

These programs include four major lines of action that align directly with industrial electrical projects:

  1. The renewal of existing equipment and installations, which includes more efficient motors, modernized electrical panels, or drives that improve energy management.
  2. Improving the energy performance of industrial processes, achieved precisely through more efficient, stable, and monitored electrical installations.
  3. The incorporation of high-efficiency technologies, from automatic power factor correction to advanced control systems or power electronics applied to production.
  4. New investments that reduce overall energy consumption, such as complete electrical installation reforms, well-designed expansions, or actions that allow energy restructuring of the plant.

In our experience, many industries discover that these grants make viable an investment they may have postponed for years. The return no longer depends solely on energy savings, but also on the grant obtained, the reduction in incidents, and the improvement in productivity.

And with an additional advantage: at AGB Ingeniers, we accompany the client throughout the entire process—from initial diagnosis to final justification—relieving the company from the administrative complexity that these programs entail.
